I bought these looking for a pair of formal occasion dress boots. These fit the bill perfectly. They have leather soles like a dress shoe and the heel is the perfect height. I haven't had an occasion to wear these yet, but after trying them on with my dress pants they look great. They fit true to size and are very comfortable. I am very happy to own a pair.

The quality is great and the boots are beautiful. The closest that I have to a complaint is that when I ordered my normal size (12D) they seemed much larger and I had to exchange for a size down. So ordering online remember this.

Sizing is a bit weird/narrow. I ordered the size that works for my Ariat and Lucchese boots and had to return them for 10-1/2 EEE. Then, as others have noted, the top of the stovepipe is 18"+ in circumference! WAY too big for most of us who aren't 300# power lifters with tree trunks for calves. My solution ... took them into the local cobbler to open up the sides and narrow them to fit under Wranglers (an add'l $60) and STILL have enough room to shotgun pants when desired. They don't "feel" as good as the boots I'm use to, but at this price point they seem to be good enough for how I'll use them. Time will tell (since I don't have them back from being worked on yet).
