I bought this vest for a wedding. Ordered a large (same size as my shirt) and it was very tight so had to order and XL still fit tight. Other than that a great vest.

Based on earlier reviews, I was concerned it might be too small, but it was not - it's especially broad across the top of the shoulders. Suede and rayon are beautiful. Love it.

This review is more about the outstanding service I received from Sheplers than about the vest itself, although the vest is very nice - soft suede and beautiful style. I had to reorder the vest twice because of size issues. First ordered a large which was too small, then an XL which was also too small, and finally the 2XL which fits me perfectly. On my last return I enclosed a note that since it was my fault for improper measuring I would be willing to pay the cost of shipping the 2XL to me. Sheplers did not ask for shipment payment, and in each instance I received the replacement vest in a very timely manner. It is nice to deal with a company which obviously values customer service and support.

This vest is sized so much smaller than marked that it was a joke.

The extra large I ordered was so much too small that it is more like a size medium. Unfortunately, this means that the only next larger size won't fit either. Very unfortunate, because my dad loved the vest. Also unfortunate was the $8.99 I spent to have a product shipped that is NOT what is was supposed to be.

I really was looking for a couple of nice vests. These are nice. I like the quality BUT they run at least two sizes smaller than marked. I had to return them. Very disappointed. To be fair, the description said "runs small" so I ordered one size up and they weren't even close.

I think the vest is a real nice vest, it fits a little tight, I normally wear an Extra Large I am glad that I order and 2 X but it is still tight, but think a 3 X wud be too large, it would also be nice if it was Suede front and back.. I had one made like this for myself while I was in the USN station in Ireland, had a tailor made suit of Suede, with vest, it finally got to worn out to wear anymore and gave it away!!

We bought these for a wedding, 1 in Dark brown, and 4 in light brown. I was initially a bit worried because previous reviews that I had read listed them as running really small. We bought all mediums just in case (the chart had us ordering smalls) and I'm pleased to say they fit just fine. So yes, they run a little small, but not the "2 sizes" folks were saying. They are very thin, but that was perfect for our boys who needed a touch of color and class but not a lot of extra weight or heat for our "rustic" themed wedding. All in all, I was very pleased and the guys looked great!

I have never worn anything larger than a size large. This vest was too small and I had to send it back. I guess I need an extra large size here. This is the first time ever I’ve needed anything larger than a size large.

My son-in-law is a big man so when I saw you had a 4X size I was so pleased. When the vest arrived it did indeed say it was a 4X...but when he tried it on he couldn't!!! He says it is probably a large or X-large!!! I made my choice of size based on the measurements in your ad. He will return it next week. Very disappointing Christmas!

I purchased this Vest based on the color in the photograph on line. I also purchased a shirt specifically to match that color. The photo appeared to be almost cocoa in color when actually the Vest color was very dark brown. I was disappointed but the quality was good and the price reasonable so I kept the Vest. A very nice product, runs small. XL usually fits me perfectly. With this one I have to hold my expensive tummy in. I have to lose 10-15 lbs. After that it look like tailor made.

I purchased this vest for a Western-themed event that has not happened yet. I did try on the vest. Glad I ordered an extra-large size as this webpage recommends. My usually size is large. I like the dark brown color. Time will tell if this Chinese-made vest endures. It comes with replacement snaps (I hope I don't have to use them!).

I purchased a man's scully suede vest in a man's large. It arrived and as I opened the package I noticed it looked rather small to be a man's size large. I tried it on and low and behold, it was way to small. Very disappointing, however, my grandson who wears a man's medium is able to wear it. So he is the owner of a vest I'd bought for myself. Suggest Shepler's check their size labels for accurancy

I haven't really worn this much yet, but I really like the way it looks on me. Measured myself wearing the type of shirt I would expect to wear under the vest and ordered accordingly. When I put on the vest for the first time it fit just right in the chest and in length. It can be adjusted in the back too, which is good since people do not all have the same size belly!

This is a nice vest, worth the selling price. The color is darker than expected and a pretty tight fit. I usually wear 2XL shirts because I'm 6'-4" tall, but this is more like a Large size or X-Large.

The leather is a bit on the thin side, more of a glove weight than jacket weight. And with a heavier shirt (flannel, chambray) the sizing can be a bit snug but with a light cotton or linen shirt a perfect fit. I received one in espresso for Christmas and liked it so much I bought another in black.

I had to send it back at my own expense because the suggested size is too small. My husband always wears a large in 99.9% of anything we buy but, not in this vest. If you wear a small, order a medium, if you wear a medium order a large, and so on and so forth.

I ordered this vest for my husband who ordinarily wears a Large in size. It was much too small, so I returned it and ordered an XL The returned vest was nicely constructed . The new XL vest is poorly constructed--it is way long in the front, and short in the back. The area under the arms is way too long. This vest is too misshapen to wear at a family wedding occasion. I am returning this vest for credit as there is no time left to try again.

I had asked if this product was made in the USA, the response I got was yes, after recieving the vest, I was very dissapointed to see it was made in China. I returned the vest. I try to only buy products made in the USA, the quality is better, they are the same price, or cheaper, and it helps support our economy. Please look for the made in USA label.

A very attractive vest; I will be wearing it as often as I can. It does run short. I am 6' and 175 lbs and normally buy Medium for a closer fit, but got this in Large because of the reviews and it came out about right. It is larger than I need around the middle, but has a strap to adjust the back, and if I tighten it all the way it comes to a good fit. I purchased the espresso and the color is a bit darker than shown in the photo, probably closer to what you would actually expect for "espresso."

This is the THIRD Scully Suade Vest I've ordered for the men-folk on my birthday-Christmas lists!!! The first one has had his for a year and STILL loves it. Looks great on, wears well on lots of physiques, stylish and best of all, looks pricey but is way way affordable--such a great $$ deal!! Will probably purchase more vests in other colors as birthdays and Christmas come again~ I'm in Western NC and have shopped at the store in Wichita and I've shopped the internet website also. Yes this does run small. I ordered the medium and it is a perfect fit for someone who typically wears a small size. It looks great and having the strap in the back allows for a more tailored fit.

The vest looks great and fits nice. I did purchase up one size per suggestions from the other reviews. I love the way it looks. I am only giving it 3 stars because I think it stinks… it’s not a leather smell I am use to. My wife hasn’t complained so maybe it’s just me….. I put fabric softener sheets in the pockets to see if that helps.

For the price, good quality & good fit - helps hide my belly! Classic Randy Houser look. This is my 2nd one because I ruined the first when it got wet. Once wet, leaves a bright shine/ permanent smear mark & velvety look is gone. Buyer beware of suede - looks good but must stay dry. Rear pull tie strange design - kind of hangs out & does not loop. A little shorter in the rear, but maybe that is just the style. Be sure to try it on in the store - runs small. I am usually Med 40Reg, but needed Large. Also, if you order during bad weather in Texas - please add two weeks to shipping time.

Order 2 sizes larger than you normally wear! I had to send mine back!

I bought this vest a few weeks ago in espresso. It actually looks darker than the picture which made me happy. I have other Scully vests, so I knew that the size runs small. I ordered two sizes larger than I wear in a coat and it fits great.

Sizing Runs REALLY Small

I usually wear a size "L" classic cut shirt (16" neck, 37"-38" waist) and a size 43R to 44R in a classic fit suit/sport coat. So following the sizing chart, I first ordered a size "L" suede vest. When I received it, I LOVED the vest, but It was so small I could not even get the snaps close enough to snap together. I gave the "L" vest as a Christmas gift to a friend who normally wears an "S" or "M", and reordered an "XL" for myself. When I received the "XL", it fit VERY SNUG to be on the verge of being uncomfortable in a way that would not allow me to put on even a couple of pounds. I am exchanging the "XL" for a "2XL," hoping that this "third try" will work out with an acceptable fit. Other than this sizing issue, I cannot say anything adverse about this item: great look, great feel and great quality for a remarkably reasonable price!

The vest is good quality for the price. I wish there was a larger size than XXL/ They do run small. If you ever do make a XXXL let me know and I'LL get one in each of the other colors.

I am very pleased with this classy suede leather vest. I will be wearing the vest at a singing audition, and will be proud to wear it with a nice shirt and jeans. Very pleased with product and rapid delivery!!! A++++++++++

False advertizing

Advertized as 100% leather, but only the front is leather. The back is fabric and the tightening strap NEVER stays buckeled. Can't anyone design a better fastener?

Scully Suede Leather Vest

This item's snap fasteners are far below the quality of the vest. the snap fasteners are cheap and do not hold all the time and quite frequently they come apart. So, I have them replaced with quality snap fasteners

i bought the black and the tan, they are really smart, black looks good with a white shirt, the tan with a black shirt, you wouldnt know it from suede, really good value.

We bought this vest and a microfiber suit jacket, both in XL. The suit jacket fits perfect, but this vest wouldn't even button up. Good quality, just small.

The picture does not show the back of this vest. It is not suede. I thought I was getting a vest with a suede back. I will be returning this.

I love the smell of Suede.. These vests (I picked up 2) are very snappy.. Get compliments all the time on 'em.. Nice western styling for equestrian endeavors or touring on the cruiser.. Highly recommend if this is youru style..

Scully leather vest - runs a bit small

I read reviews and it was reported time and time again the vest runs small. I am personally in between a large and extra large depending on the mfg. I emailed my measurements (46 chest, 40.5 at the navel, 36 waist) to customer service and was told to order a large - oops! Returned and XL fit perfectly. I give a 5 star for product, the lower rating is for not knowing their product.

I ordered this Scully product partly because I had recently purchased another vest by Scully that I really lIke (for a LOT more $). This is $70 less and still a very fine piece. (It has passed the ultimate test--my wife likes it.) The only reason for 4 stars is the sizing of all vests is apparently screwed up--it makes no difference who is the manufacturer. I am a "Large" in every other piece of clothing; vests require me to order XXL. Or a vest extender--the one i purchased looks very nice--though it seems most extenders have skulls as a motif.

If you’re a groom looking for a vest and have real men in your wedding party… PICK ANYTHING BUT THIS! For the little guys it’ll work fine but the sizing is so terrible you could probably make one yourself and be better off. I’m 6’4” 270 and had to order a 4x and it’s still not long enough and barely fits around me . I’m a 2x shirt and an XL in Duluth size. The vest is well made but the sizing is absolute garbage. Do yourself a favor and pick literally anything else!!!

After all of the years I've been ordering and wearing these Scully vests, you ought to know that I LOVE! them.!! Hope you never stop stocking them! The only negative (minor) is that they have to be sent out to a professional cleaner and, therefore, are a bit expensive to have cleaned and they never get the vest back to it's original color. Maybe I'm just too hard on them...?

These vests are difficult to gauge for size. Ordered one size up and still barely fits. And buyer beware that each company has different fit patterns.

I bought this vest a couple of weeks ago. The vest is nice but is way undersized. It says that it runs small but I normally wear an xl. The xxl feels to small.

Suede Leather Vest by Scully

Our wedding is in October we ordered this vest for the groom, groomsmen and ring bearer. They are perfect and are exactly what we wanted for our country wedding! (I would have liked for the back of the vest to be brown (to match the front) but it is black. I still love the vest but that might be something to consider.)

I've bought two of these vests now, tan and espresso, and in two different sizes, medium and large. I'm a relatively slim (40" chest), average statured guy and either size seems to work for me with pro's and cons for each. "Large" is a bit large and loose on my torso, but a nice length. "Medium" fits my torso nicely but is maybe just a little shorter than I'd like. Still, I like the way either looks on me and have received several compliments when I wear them. I've already wondered whether I can justify getting a third in black!

Sizes are horrible! Definitely go up 2 sizes when buying this!! We got this for our wedding and it didn't fit. We even went up 1 size.

I NORMALLY WEAR A XL OR 2XL DEPENDING ON THE ITEM, 2XL IS NORMALY LOOSE. THE VEST 2XL IS THE SIZE OF A SMALL XL, IT IS TIGHT.

This is a good value for the money. Not suitable for hard use; more of a dress vest. Goes with suit and tie, or nice to dress up jeans and a plaid shirt. The price makes it easier to buy in several colors. Looks great with my favorite "outdoorsy" print buttondown shirt. Of course, we prefer to buy things that are USA made when possible. [Find a company that can make these here at home, and we'll spread the word!]

This is tight to begin with and tailored for slim men with no muffin top. I’ll need to lose 10 lbs before I can wear it comfortably. Usually things in this size are a tad loose on me, so be aware: these are sized a little small.

This was the first item I have ever ordered from Shepler....what a nightmare...I always wear a Mens L....so I ordered the vest in a L...when it arrived it looked great, but when I put it on it had to be 2 sizes too small....I couldn't believe it! I went back to their site to see reviews and at least 90% of the reviews said the same thing...you would think Shellers would do something about it...I returned it and I am STILL WAITING for 2XL to arrive.
