Nice hat for the money but be aware it runs large

Seeing as these are only sold as sizes S. M. L, XL rather than discrete sizes like 7 1/4, 7 3/8, 7 1/2 or 58, 59, 60 cm, you only have 4 options when trying to find a size that fits you. So compromise is almost inevitable. It'll likely end up being a little too tight or too loose.
I'm a size 7 1/4 and that usually means a "L" fits me OK. Not with this hat, LOL. I bought a Black size "L" and it was comically big on me. If I had to guess, I'd say it was bigger than 7 1/2, more like 7 5/8 or 60 - 62 cm.
I returned that hat (bought elsewhere) and bought both the Black and Brown here at Boot Barn in size "M'. I received the Brown hat a couple of days ago and the fit is much better. A little tight, but only a little. I'd rather have that than something that will blow off my head in a slight breeze. So my advice is to order down one size to start.
As for the hat itself, it's really nice. It looks sharp and feels nice in the hand. I like the styling they used on the crown. And the hat band is a nice low key braided leather with one silver concho carrying the Outback Trading Co. name. The Black is a true deep black. The Brown is a nice dark brown which should be pretty versatile with jeans and not show dirt and stains very much.
The inside is satin lined but the satin is not tacked in place. It flops around inside. Maybe that was a design concession to this hat being crushable. The brim is the widest I could find in a crushable western style hat at 3.5 inches. And the 4.5" crown is sized right for the rest of the hat.
I own 2 Stetson 5XXXXX fur felt hats. But they absolutely do not tolerate prolonged rain or snow without damage. And it's a pain reshaping them / removing water stains. And there's no way to store the Stetsons at bars or restaurants when you're seated as hat hooks and coat racks seem to have gone the way of the dinosaurs. And those under the bar hooks don't work for a large stiff hat.
Hence the reason I was looking for a crushable wool hat. These things do tolerate a lot more water. The wide brim ensures the water is rolling off onto the back of my jacket, not down my neck. And once I'm indoors and seated, I can just crush the hat and stuff it into the sleeve of my jacket which WILL hang on those hooks under a bar. When I'm ready to leave, a quick flick of the hat and it looks brand new.
I'm thinking these crushable wool hats are gonna be my go to daily wear hats. They're just so much easier to live with and more functional to boot.

Hat is not shaped like the picture shows. Front and back are flat unlike shown in the picture. Also sizes are incorrect. I bought a large which was supposed to be a 7 1/4 - 7 3/8 size. I need a 7 3/8. I could slide my fingers between the hat and my fore head. Had to return it to the store. It was more like a 7 3/4 size.

Shy Game UPF50 Sun Protection Crushable Wool Hat is everything I wanted in a western hat. I need one I can wear every day at work and after. This one fits the bill. They run slightly large so you might want to order 1 size smaller. Mine is just a smidgen big but I'm going to try to shrink it slightly the next time it rains by blow drying it a little at a time. This hat has style and class. Folks are always commenting about how great it looks. I will buy the brown one next time I order from Sheplers.com

Good looking but sizing off

Great looking hat but sizing is really off. Ordered and received hat marked as small, but was 23 inch circumference which is more like a medium/large

Really like this one. Looks good and use it for evenings. The fits a little off for me. I wear a 7 3/8 and while it say it’s 7 3/8 it’s oblong so it’s a little snug in the front and back but really loose on the sides.
