I purchased these (Vital) because Danner quit making their High Ground hunting boot. Many of us considered the High Ground the best hunting boot made, but it had a fatal flaw - the cloth lacing eyes failed quickly. The High Ground actually allowed me to walk again after a failed ankle reconstruction 3 years ago. Unfortunately Danner didn't try to address the one flaw in the boot, they just "quit". After trying several other Danner boots I ended up with the Vital because it is made on the same last as the High Ground, so the fit is similar. Unfortunately the Vital is not nearly the boot the High Ground was. It is "floppy". The material, both cloth and leather is thin and not nearly supportive enough. The tongue has no gussets, so it can't tuck around your ankle. It just bunches under the laces in front of your ankle. Not real comfortable, at the least. The sole has virtually no rocker so, at least for me, this boot doesn't walk easily. The leather is plasticized, which apparently means they can use very thin leather which provides no support. Given any other choice, I would not buy this boot. I will look at other manufacturers, but with little hope. Sorry Danner. This is not a good boot.

Very comfortable with a wide toe that doesn't pinch the ball my foot. Pronghorn was my previous favorite but it became narrow and I was so happy to find the vital

Overall, a nice looking boot, but the issue I’m having might just be the pair I received, My left boot feels like the material digs into my ankle making it uncomfortable to wear.

Biggest complaint is the width of the open end eyelids, they need to be slightly wider. I have a difficult time getting the shoelace to engage underneath the open end eyelets, and sometimes one will “jump out”, for a lack of better term. Once again, they need to be just a little bit wider. Thank you.

Very stiff at first. Takes a while to break in. Very lightweight and fits great.

These boots are super lightweight and so far haven’t let any water in walking in the dew. Haven’t had them in a puddle yet though. The boots are very comfortable and required no break in. I put them on and took off!!

I own other Danner boots and I bought these because I was looking for something light that I could use day-in and day-out. Overall the boots are true to size but a little narrow, so I ended up with a EE. I've worn these boots just about every day for the last year and they have held up great. The soles probably have another year if not two left before I'll need another pair. No tears, rips, or defects. I really love these boots and they are very comfortable. I bought the 41550 because I live in California and didn't think I would need the insulation even though I live in the foothills. In the colder months, they can be a little chilly, but thicker socks help solve that. The one issue I ran into was during the heat of the summer months. I wear my boots for about 14 hours a day and after about 4 days in the blistering heat, I started to develop a heat rash on the top of my feet where the extra tongue material was. The boots just didn't breath well, and my feet were always wet when I took my boots off. I tried talcum powder and other things but I ended up shelving the boots untill the heat passed. These are the only boot I've ever had this issue with. I think I will try cutting the extra tongue material out when I know they are getting to the end of their life, just to see if that will fix the problem. I even have a pair of Vicious, and they don't have this issue in the heat. Hopefully I just got a bad pair because I'd love to buy another set of these when they wear out.

This is my second pair, the first were the best Danners I’ve ever had. This pair of Vitals was comfortable out of the box but after wearing in for a couple weeks, this pair hurts my toes. I don’t know why other than quality difference between pairs. We’ll see how they work out.

Very comfortable and light no break in really need but not as breathable as I like. My feet get quite sweaty.

The most pleased I have ever been with a boot, Danner customer for life after this one. I initially purchased these boots for an off-roading trip to Moab, they performed flawless and were out of the box ready to go. I mostly hunt in Louisiana so avoiding water is difficult, but I found them to be water resistant just over the toe; never any issue with dew or shallow puddles. I enjoyed them so much they became my every day work boot and first pair of “shoes” I reach for. They are light, comfortable, & breathe well. After many many miles and every day wear; I’m here to buy a replacement pair!

Great fit , really lightweight .three weeks in and daily wear to work still great!!!

I’ve only got to wear the boots a couple of times but, from the first time that I used them they feel great

Excellent boot, great fit, look forward to breaking them in this summer for hiking and then during fall hunting season.

So far these boots are very nice and I will probably buy another pair soon for my son.

Handsome boot with a great sole. Definitely waterproof! :) Cleans up nicely. Not as breathable as hoped.

Great stability I’ve been in Alabama hunting turkey and they have been wonderful up and down these hills. The boots are made of great quality and everyone comments on the camo . I will buy insulated ones this fall if they have my size ! On top of these I purchased the lace up snake boots and I’ve had them on all day today and they are wonderful boots !

Great boot! Super light weight and zero break in required. Comfortable right out of the box.

I like the new bootlace quick lace My old ones had cloth loops that broke. I like the waterproofing as well.

Love the boots .Have had several pair over about the last eight years . My only complaint would be that the boot strings don’t hold up very long .

Initial fit and quality is very good. They are extremely light so look forward to my long days at work on my feet. The boots are very comfortable out of the box. I typically buy the Pronghorns but they were out of stock and these seem to be a worthy substitute. I’ve had them for about a month and have worn them a lot. Very happy with quality and laces, etc. They are very waterproof so far.

Hurt my feet. I could feel the blisters starting before I even left the house. Slid my old pronghorns back on and sent the vitals back.

Not true to size. Tight in the toes, suggest going up half a size.

Not sure how water proof they are yet, but they are very comfortable. No break in required.

I buy 2 pair of boots every year and half to two years, 1pair of uninsulated and 1pair of insulated, I have never bought a pair of boots that have been as comfortable right out of the box as these boots have been. Danner has changed my way of thinking about boots in general, I've always bought rockys or irish setters and the like, that won't happen again
