The boots are very comfortable

Jun 21, 2020
The boots are very comfortable and I have utilize them up at elevations between 6000 and 8000 feet during the day. Very good foot and ankle support. A great light boot for early season hunting and scouting. They are definitely everything I expect them to be; a very light, comfortable, supportive, early season dry boot.

These are my 3rd pair of pronghorn and usually I put them on and don't look back. For some reason this pair is making my heels hurt. Guess I will be looking for different pads..see if that handles the problem

I hope you never quit

Jul 22, 2023
I hope you never quit making these. I’ve been wearing these for 5 years for work, they’re the only boot I’ve found that keep my parents planter fasciitis from flaring up.

Nov 23, 2022
I have purchased several of these boots and just bought more. Most comfortable boots, even after old and worn down. With almost no tread on the pair I am wearing now, I would sill rather be wearing these than any brand I have bought in the past.

This is my 2nd pair.

May 15, 2024
This is my 2nd pair. Best Boots ever. They don't need to be broken in. You get right to work.

Perfect. Hope you keep making them. Hard to find non insulated hunting type boots.

I've worn the boots for two weeks. All I can say is I hope they last. Super comfortable but still protective and supportive. Could not be more satisfied especially considering i didn't spend 500. They seem to disregard all the abuse a contractor can throw at them.

Comfortable right out of the box. Took them on a 2 mile walk on pavement before a huge Alaska trip. First major test was a six mile russian river hike near coopers landing. Super comfortable in dry conditions. They got some wet action on a couple of fishing outings and feet were dry and comfortable. Made sure to order a little bigger than I needed so I could put in the big socks if insulation was needed. Wore them with cabelas wool socks. Not too hot or cold. Overall so far really happy with these boots. Will be putting them to work in the next few months with lots of hikes and hunts ahead.

G5's Can't Compare to G4's

Apr 13, 2020
I reluctantly sent my G4 Pronghorns in under warranty after some stitching in the back, just above the heal came apart, leaving a 1/2" wide hole that I probably could of had a local shoe repair shop fix. After getting my new G5's in size 10.5 regular 400gr, I immediate noticed a big difference in fit, feel and finish. The regulars, were very narrow and after consulting with Danner customer service I was recommended to try the wides. So I sent in my narrow 400gr and swapped them for a 10.5EE no insulation so I could just get plain brown. I have been wearing these boots about 3 days a week for the last 6 weeks, putting on maybe 4 miles a day in mountainous terrain (Black Hills of SD) and these do not compare to the G4's that at this point I wish I could have back. My feet have been wet inside them, but it's hard to say if it's water over the top or through the boot. My G4's never had a leak, even with the hole. For a EE Wide boot, the toe box is crazy narrow, my G4's toe box was so nice, ample, and they were standard width. The laces are garbage, and one of the first items to get replaced after only a few days. I sent my G4's back with the original laces still in them after 3 full bore hunting seasons. The soles squeak on some surfaces and the sole is supposed to be one of the big upgrades for the G5. Meh, it's too narrow and feels cheap. I'm willing to bet I don't get the same mileage as my G4's. What is up with the width of the lace openings? The tongue of the boot makes up 1/3 of the width. My G4's were all leather, no denier, and all brown and 400gr. The G5's don't have an all leather option, and not even an all brown option at the 400gr. My G4's were sneaker comfortable after about 20 miles, and my goto for any and all outdoor activities, these G5's might end up sitting in the corner, still factory stiff, until the G6's come out, or I find a boot that I think deserves more of my attention. I mean I kinda get it, the G4's probably cost more the manufacture then they could sell them for, the G5's seem like they were made by a low bid Alibaba manufacturer. Danner took a step in the wrong direction on this generation of Pronghorns. Overall cons they feel "cheap", look cheap, 5x downgrade from the G4's, there isn't a full leather or brown 400gr version Overall pros Danner Warranty, leather is nice and supple

After walking over 700 miles

Mar 6, 2020
After walking over 700 miles in these, I can say that they are the best upland boot I have ever had!

Snug fit from toe to

Jan 18, 2025
Snug fit from toe to above the ankle. I have wide feet so having boots like this that fit so well is definitely something to look forward to. Havn’t had a chance for a long hike just yet in these but hopefully they do the job well!

I needed them to be a bit wider, but they will work with thinner socks.

Love the boots. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Thanks for the great service.

I am hard to fit

Nov 6, 2023
I am hard to fit even when boots are labeled wide. But with Danner boots 2EE the fit is perfect. This is my second pair. They are long lasting!!

I have bought the Pronghorn

Jun 10, 2022
I have bought the Pronghorn for the last 4 pairs of boots that I have purchased. The last pair was a disappointment. The toe box on the boot is much narrower than the last pair and now I'm wearing my old pair again until I can find something similar to the older version.

Great boot! Didn't even have

Nov 29, 2022
Great boot! Didn't even have to break them in, just wore them bird hunting in North Dakota. I did however exchange them at a local retailer for a size bigger. I've had 2 pairs of pronghorns prior. Both 12's. I swapped for 13's. And they were perfect.

Not the proghorn of old

Jul 18, 2021
My last pair of proghorns were great. Lasted me 3 years of heavy use backpacking and hunting in rough terrain. Bought a new pair and realized that they changed the design. The toe is much narrower and less comfortable. To make matters worse the tread is breaking off in places and the sole is separating after only having them for three months. Extremely poor quality and worth a 1/4 of the asking price.

Sep 29, 2021
Very comfortable and required little break in but just soaks up the water, really needs some type of waterproofing in toe area and rest of lower section. If waterproof or really resistant would be a great boot.

Great for the rough terrain

Dec 18, 2024
Great for the rough terrain of the Cortina Ridge. Grippy on rocks, flexible in steep draws, sturdy with a deer on one’s back. Comfortable out of the box w minimal break-in miles. Good boots- my second pair

Hope they last as long as these Danners great boots.

May 6, 2024
Excellent quality but you have ruined the boot fit. I was replacing an existing set of Pronghorns and the new ones in your wide size are simply too tight. Look at my account and you will see the frustrating path taken by me in attempting to repurchase the boot that served me for many years.

This is the 8th pair

Sep 30, 2021
This is the 8th pair of Danner Pronghorns that I have owned. Seem to be the same quality of the past but the sizing has changed dramatically. I have always been 8.5 D. Now I need a 9 EE and still required breaking time. I’ll continue to buy Danner pronghorns but they aren’t the same boot they were 10 years ago.

Oct 25, 2023
They are comfortable and does not require a long break in time.

What did you do to the Pronghorn boot??

May 19, 2021
I presently own 3 pairs of older Pronghorns, 1 uninsulated and 2 insulated. I have worn uninsulated Pronghorns for years as my daily footwear. The previous generations fit well and were very comfortable right out of the box. My uninsulated Pronghorns were a few years old and starting to wear out so I stopped at Gander Outdoors today and tried on the newest generation of Pronghorn. I would rate this boot a zero if I could. I wear a 10.5 D. I tried on this size and the boots were too short and the toe box was narrow. The heel cup felt short and dug into my heel. I moved up to an 11 and the heel was too wide and still felt short. Yet the toe box still felt tight. They didn't have any EE width so I couldn't try them to see what the difference was but I'm going to guess that even if the toe box was bigger the heel would be too wide for me. I don't understand why, when manufacturers have a good product, they feel a need to drastically change it. My only complaint in the past was that the gore tex liner would fail after a while and my feet would get wet on occasion. I can't express how disappointed I am with Danner. Look at the ratings. 76 (1&2 star) reviews vs. 239 (4&5) star. If I was a business and 25% of my customers were unhappy I would be out of business.

I needed a rugged boot

Nov 12, 2022
I needed a rugged boot to hunt ruffed grouse in upper Michigan’s thick briars and Chucker’s in rocky central Oregon. These have a reasonable light weight with good support and traction. This is my second pair. First pair is about 10 years old and are now my work boots for cutting/ splitting wood.
