Not made for curvy women

Feb 4, 2019
I normally wear a 14 in pants. I've realized that the problem with FR pants are that they are not stretchy at all. I bought my first pair from Carhartt - the jeans - and they were super tight in the hips and huge in the legs. I bought a 16. So I returned them - Carhartt was really good about this, and I bought these, because they are called "Loose Fit." I bought a size 16. They were still too tight in the hips and butt, but not as bad as the last pair. But the worst thing is how big the legs are when you have to size up. I looked ridiculous. So I cant size up to an 18 because the legs will be huge. I found another company online that offers a "Curvy" pair of pants, so I'll try those. I wanted to go with Carhartt, but the sizing is all wrong.

Old Man Jeans

Dec 3, 2017
These jeans fit horribly! The hip fit is fine, but the waist is large and rise is high, which makes the waistband hit my ribcage, only to be cinched down with a belt so they don't fall off, so I look like an old man wearing pants that are too big. Sizing down doesn't help, either, and neither does trying the Original-Fit Rugged Flex Jeans - one has to have the dimensions of a model to wear those. Unfortunately, Carhartt is the only manufacturer of women's FRC that seem to understand that pockets are needed for pens, knife, phone, radio, etc., rather than just making some jeans that are FRC. Carhartt, please re-design these jeans to the 2008-2009 version!

Too small if you have hips

Dec 15, 2018
Really disappointed in the sizing of these. I have to wear FR pants for field work and they have to be 2112 and these are the only ones that they make for women. I normally wear a size 8 in jeans but I sized up to a 10 so I would have more room and they are uncomfortably tight on my hips but very loose at the waist. For women with hips, these are really uncomfortable. I don’t think sizing up to a 12 would work because the legs and waist would be too baggy.

They run small had to send first ones back and re order. There is a gap in the waist with larger size. But over all I can live with it

Perfect work pants!

Nov 7, 2017
These pants are my favorite by far! They run true to size. (I am 145lbs and got a size 6.) I am 5'7'' and got a short in length and they are perfect. Comfortable, easy to move in.

Wore them 3 years

Mar 10, 2017
Carhartt, these pants need so many adjustments. First, the waist is way too high and way too tight. I am 5'4", size 2 in women's clothing. I have these pants in size 4 x 30 inseam. I can't even bend down on job sites to pick up a tool without the waist cutting into my body and the pants riding up my crotch. It makes my job so difficult! How could these pants be so badly designed? So I'm supposed to have a 23-24" waist in order for size 4 to fit me? Second, the zipper keeps coming down! Third, the legs are way too baggy all throughout (awfully baggy) yet the pants are too short making me look like a tree stub. Fourth, the pockets are way too small. I can barely fit a regular Samsung phone in my back pocket. Side back pockets are even smaller and more shallow so they are completely useless. Fifth, the fabric in the crotch area has completely thinned out and is now see through. I have to wear leggings underneath which makes the tight waist issue even more unbearable. Sadly, even these pants are better than my Wrangler FR jeans. Those get 0 stars so I'm stuck with Carhartt. I have no idea who designed these pants for working women, but "boy"....did they miss the mark. I dread every morning when I have to put these pants on. I know I will spend more time fidgeting with these pants than actually working.

Wonderful FR pants for a woman

Jan 12, 2018
These are my favorite pants. I'm required to wear FR daily and appreciate the functional features. It is great having pants that are snug where they need to be and loose in the right areas to avoid restricting movement. They are very durable - not to the level of a heavy jean material, but still very durable. Nothing on them has fallen apart over heavy use including the seams, hammer loops and Klein's pockets. The rise is appropriate for work - I want my belt and any tools to be carried right above my hips, not on or below. I hope this style will continue for many years (or at least until I retire :)

Comfy, but run small

Dec 15, 2016
This is the second time I've bought these pants. They are comfy and lighter than the jeans, but they do run small. Both times I've had to order one size larger than I do with the jeans (one size larger than my normal pant size). They are also a bit more roomy/baggy than the jeans in the legs. I like the extra utility pockets on the sides.

The main side pockets are a joke, and it's more important than people think

Aug 18, 2018
...and it was a dealbreaker. The material is great - I had been looking for work pants with minimal stretch (enough with the Spandex/elastane - not everyone wants stretch pants!) and I thought I'd found the perfect pair. But the pockets are way too small for work pants. Make them deeper! Why don't clothing manufacturers get that women like deep pants pockets, too? I could barely stuff my ordinary velcro wallet into a pocket. My whole hand doesn't even fit in it, and I am not a big person! Cell phones are big these days, and when we're out in the field, we're not carrying purses. The other pockets are fine for less important items, but they bump up against furniture and anything that contacts the legs. We need our wallets and phones within easy hand's reach. Manufacturers use material to create more pockets when they could just make the main side pockets larger. Do it, Carhartt, and millions of women will thank you for it.

Plus sizes would be great!

Jan 29, 2021
As a larger sized female working in an industry where FR pants are required it's incredibly frustrating with the limited variety. I would love to have the opportunity to purchase these but they don't have a very broad range of sizes. Big ladies have to work and be safe too!

Overall great work pantsThe only downside is that the knees need to be reinforced. Right now I'm taking my old jeans in to the tailor to repair the knees on my newer jeans.

They look really good, fit comfortably, and the pockets haven't worn through and I put my tools in them every day. The only downside is that the knees need to be reinforced. Right now I'm taking my old jeans in to the tailor to repair the knees on my newer jeans.

Order up on size

Apr 3, 2019
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had heard that Carhartt women's flame resistant line tends to run small... in most Carhartt pants a 6 is comfortably loose and a 4 will fit but is a little too snug for most jobs. I ordered an 8 for these and find they fit similar to a 4 would for regular women's Carhartt clothing. That being said, I've still been wearing them to work on days when I don't anticipate the need to move around much, like if I'm just doing production welding all day, and they've held up well so far. I would be willing to buy another pair in the future and just make sure to fully accommodate for the sizing issue.

No longer fit for curves

Aug 9, 2017
I originally bought these in 2014, and they fit great. When I tried to buy new pants last year, the fit had totally changed. They were about a size bigger overall, and much larger in the waist. Plus all the pockets were smaller and shallower. The tiny back pockets are spaced very widely, which is not flattering. A year later, the original pants are wearing through, and my company's uniform vendor doesn't even carry women's Carhartt pants anymore. I'm going to try to get the men's pants altered, because the durability of my old pairs was actually very good -- three years washed weekly. At least the men's pants have usable pockets. (But now only five belt loops?) Sizing info: I have a 27" waist and 38" hips. The 6 (which I never returned, but never wore) fits in the hips but is 2-3" too big at the waist. The 4 was snug in the hips and still a little too big at the waist.

Way to big at the bottom. Women have hips!

Jul 28, 2017
It was a snug fit up top and way too big at the bottom. Carhartt needs to know that women have hips! They cut them like men's jeans. It did not look right at all.
