We did as recommended and sized up two sizes. But the design of this belt requires some tension for the buckle to stay hooked, so it did not stay buckled on my little one. The belt was actually leather as listed in the description.

I was concerned it might be cheap and low quality, but it's actually pretty nice and durable. The buckle itself seems to be good quality, it is heavy and doesn't look cheap. The only issue I have which isn't really turning me off, but it is tough to buckle because it has a hook latch - there is no way my 4 year old can do it himself. I have to leave it fairly loose so he can get his pants up and down on his own.

I bought this for my little great grandsons birthday. His brother already had one so I knew the quality was great. He loves his buckle. Makes him feel like a real cowboy.

"Grammie! Oh Boy! A real cowboy belt! And it's just my size!".... 5 year old grandson who has worn it awake and to bed for 5 days.

Wasn't sure what size I should get, but the 18" fit perfectly for my 2 year old grandson who has an average build. The buckle can be used again as he grows. Very pleased!
