I first ordered 8.5D and could not get my foot in the boot. I have a pair of 8D Tony Lama's that fit snug but OK, so the 8.5 should fit well. I exchanged for 9D, that were still hard to get my foot into, but once I did, they were too big (these boots also had inconsistent coloring on the foot of the boots). I exchanged for a pair of Renegade brown welt boots, size 8.5D, that were difficult to get into, but once I did they fit snug across the instep, but fit well otherwise. The problem with these? The heel (spur ledge) on one of the boots stuck way out the back of one of the boots, much further than the other boot, very poor quality control. As much as I like the style and materials of these boots, I am not going to buy Tony Lama. The fit is awful and the quality of build is not there. Country Outfitters, however, do make exchanges easy, have great pricing, and are great to deal with.
