How to Wear Spring 2012′s Cowboy Hat Trend

By kwinchester — February 10, 2012

There is something truly magical about a women in a cowboy hat.  As “O” Magazine puts it,

“Women wearing hats are at once sophisticated and whimsical….Their faces are younger and softer.  They carry themselves differently, daintily, like deer.  Their voices flutter a bit…even when they are talking about things like money and power and work, even when it’s clear they’re very much in charge of their lives.”

This spring, hats will regain their rightful place in fashion.  Thanks to high-profile hat-lovers such as Kate Middleton and Lady Gaga, last year’s hat trend has gained steam (and impact) for spring.  You’ll be seeing Jackie-O inspired pillboxhats in pastels, super glamourous floppy wide brimmed hats, and the ever popular fedora everywhere you look.

Ladies who love country style have reason to rejoice: one of this seasons biggest trends is western inspired headwear.  Cowboy hats are so classic that they’re almost always “in.”  For many women, the cowboy hat is one of the most easy to wear styles imaginable.  It’s also practical since it keeps both sun and rain out of your eyes.  This spring, consider stepping outside the (bullrider crease) box and try out something besides a cattlemen’s hat!  For the more adventurous western woman, the vaquero hat is  going to be a huge impact piece for spring. These edgy felt hats generally look best in neutrals and darker colors.  Gus crease and Tycon hats with wide stiff brims and curvaceous crown creases give any outfit a mysterious “gunslinger” attitude.
