The 2011 Country Music Awards were just this past Wednesday. You’re probably well aware of the fact that the awards ceremony began at 7 pm and was over by bedtime,  which is why you might be wondering why I’m still talking about the presentation 2 days later.

If you’re a female country music fan though, you understand why the CMAs are still fresh on my mind.  You and I are then kindred spirits;  we are still looking at photos of the best dressed ladies in country music, dreaming about the day we can sign with a label in Nashville and get to put on one of those beautiful gowns.

Unfortunately, no matter how good I may think I sound singing “If I Die Young,” in the shower at home, I’m not about to have any music producers come knocking on my door offering me a glitzy gown and a date with Brad Paisley.  Nope…they’d be more likely to show up and ask me to please, please stop abusing the notes in the CMA song of the year, and then kindly inform me that the next-door neighbors are sick of my squawking.

So, while I can’t expect to ever be able to afford one of those J. Mendel dresses like the one Taylor Swift was wearing, I can try to capture the beauty of each of the star’s dresses in something I can afford (and will wear everyday): a pretty pair of cowgirl boots.   I’ve looked around and found boots that capture the same design principles as those gorgeous gowns that Country’s Leading Ladies wore the other night – consider this the look for less, CMA edition!

THE LOOK: Taylor Swift

THE LOOK…FOR LESS: These great boots from Lucchese capture the feel of Taylor’s dress nicely.  They are metallic without being overdone, and the scrolling on the boot reminds me of the way the fabric of Taylor’s dress wraps around her body.  These boots are young and whimsical and are reminiscent of an elegant cowgirl with her head in the clouds and her heart grounded in country.

THE LOOK: Carrie Underwood

THE LOOK…FOR LESS: These Lucchese Novillero Boots  mimic the aspect of Carrie’s dress that is the most stunning: the intense color.  While we saw a lot of stars wearing metallics, Carrie stood out in this punchy take on gold.  These boots compliment the colors of this ensemble and remind me of this “ray of sunshine” look that fits Carrie’s personality so well.

THE LOOK: Miranda Lambert

THE LOOK…FOR LESS: These daring and playful Corral cowgirl boots replicate Miranda’s look very well.  Miranda’s dress reminds me of the beauty of the night sky, which is exactly what we see being recreated in this Silver Star Corral boot.  They even have metallic silver inside the cutouts!

THE LOOK…FOR LESS: Nicole Kidman (aka Mrs. Keith Urban) showed up to support her husband, who was nominated as Entertainer of the Year.  She was wearing a very textured gunmetal lace column dress, which is nicely recreated here in these Precious Metal Python boots from Lucchese.

THE LOOK…FOR LESS: These boots from Lucchese feature a floral theme, a metallic sheen on top, and a nude Ostrich vamp.  LeAnn’s dress has nude lining and a slightly metallic floral lace overlay.  Also, the rows of ruffles around the torso of the dress remind me of rose petals.  These boots could not be any more perfect to represent the beauty of LeAnn’s dress!
