Cowboy Boots Re-Enter Mainstream Fashion
What do skinny women, cowboy boots, and crepes all have in common?
Three words: Paris. Fashion. Week.
Don’t roll your eyes just yet. Yes, this event is hoity-toity and really has no place in a blog devoted to the slow and simple country lifestyle we all love, but give me a second to explain.
Country style has once again made its way onto the runway. How do I know? Because I spend entirely too much time updating the Country Outfitter Pinterest boards. I’ve seen a whole lot of great western-inspired looks rolling into the “women’s fashion” board and straight onto our “Cowgirl Couture” board.
This whole “let’s do a western look” isn’t necessarily new, but the Isabel Marant fall 2012 collection is certainly different from the looks we see from designers who usually try and do something related to Americana (i.e. Ralph Lauren). Fashion bloggers have been giving this particular look a lot of attention. Yoked shirts and western detailing gave these shows a fresh look that I think would look really interesting mixed in with the color blocking trend that is so big right now. The maxi dresses and skirts that are going to be so popular for spring also showed up at the Michael Kors show.
What am I most excited about though? The COWBOY BOOTS. For once in my life, I’ll have a head start on all these prissy ladies running around with 4 inch heels. My shoe collection will be “to diiiee for, dahhhling.” How’s that for some country pride? The boots below look an awful lot like my Ariat Fatbaby boots, not that I needed another reason to wear them all the time.
What do you all think? Are you excited about western clothing making a comeback or do you prefer that boots and yoked shirts be left to the real cowgirls?
