We had a chance to meet up with our favorite local band, Backroad Anthem, in our flagship Country Outfitter store recently and got to know our friends a little better. We’d be shocked if you could find a nicer group of guys sitting on a couch this side of the Mississippi.
It’s not everyday that six guys get together and decide to start a band. This is especially true when the guys aren’t 13 and looking to play to sellout crowds in a neighborhood garage.
But, Backroad Anthem isn’t your typical band and its members aren’t typical guys.
In October 2012, Craig Strickland and Toby Freeman were playing music together at a local church and tossed the idea around of starting a band. They decided to do it and got other band members, Brandon Robold, Eric Dysart, Josh Bryant, and Isaac Senty on board, as well. The group played its first show not long after deciding to actually be a band at the iconic, George’s Majestic Lounge, in Fayetteville, following a Brantley Gilbert show. And as the old cliche goes, the rest is history.
Since the band’s fast start, they haven’t slowed down playing in front of crowds across the South and sharing stages with the likes of Chris Young, Josh Turner, Gary Allan, Easton Corbin, Tyler Farr, Joe Nichols, Eli Young Band and Dustin Lynch. Backroad released their first EP on May 3, 2013, titled “Small Town Fame,” which reached #24 on the iTunes Top Country Music Charts.
Though they’ve experienced a lot of success in a short amount of time as a band, the group isn’t done yet and believes 2014 is going to be an even bigger year than this year.
We agree. These guys are well on the way to being something really special. We’re happy we had a chance to show them around our Fayetteville Square flagship store.
